When I press the "Scan" on my scanning software, I receive an error message that reads: "Please install scanner" or "The scan was aborted because the scanner is not powered on or not connected properly".

This error message appears if the scanner isn't recognized by the computer. Make sure the scanner is connected properly, the USB cable is a good working cable, and the scanner is being recognized by the computer - when you plug in the scanner, you should hear a USB confirmation sound.

If you still have the error appear after verifying the hardware is connected properly, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the driver. Please follow the steps below to uninstall and install the driver.
