Program my Brother machine to automatically dial a predefined number before every fax number I dial.
You can use your Brother machine's Dial Prefix feature to automatically dial a predefined number before every fax you send.
For example, if your telephone system requires you to dial 9 to access an outside line, then you can program the Dial Prefix feature to automatically dial 9 every time you send a fax.
To program your Brother machine's Dial Prefix, follow these steps:
*If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps of "For Touchscreen models" below.
- Press the MENU key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Initial Setup.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Dial Prefix.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose On and press the OK key.
(This step might be skipped in some models.)
- Use the dial pad to enter the prefix you want your Brother machine to dial automatically.
- The Prefix can be up to 5 digits long.
- You can use numbers 0 to 9, #, *, and !.
- Press the HOOK key to choose !.
- You cannot use ! with any other numbers.
- To access an outside line, press !.
- The Prefix can be up to 5 digits long.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
- Press MENU.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Initial Setup.
- Press Initial Setup.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Dial Prefix.
- Press Dial Prefix.
- Press On.
- Press Dial Prefix.
- Use the touchscreen button to enter the prefix you want your Brother machine to dial automatically.
- The Prefix can be up to 5 digits long.
- You cannot use ! with any other numbers.
- To access an outside line, press !.
- The Prefix can be up to 5 digits long.
- Press the OK
- Press Stop/Exit.
