How do I connect the printer to my computer via Wi-Fi® using an access point?

To print using a wireless network connection, you must download and install the printer driver and P-touch Editor.

Establishing a wireless network connection using a USB cable temporarily (recommended)

  1. Confirm the SSID and password of your WLAN access point/router beforehand.

For Windows:

  1. Download and install the printer driver and P-touch Editor from the [Downloads] section of this website.
  2. When installing the printer driver, the setting items for the wireless network connection will be displayed. Complete the setup according to the on-screen instructions.

For Mac:

  1. Download and install the Full Software Package from the [Downloads] section of this website. Double-click the downloaded file.  The Wireless Device Setup Wizard can be found in the [Utilities] folder.
  2. Double-click the Wireless Device Setup Wizard icon. The setting items for the wireless network connection will be displayed. Complete the setup according to the on-screen instructions.

If you do not know the SSID and password of your WLAN access point/router, contact your system administrator.

If you did not configure the wireless network connection settings when installing the printer driver, you can use one of the following configuration methods.

  1. Establishing a wireless network connection using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™): Infrastructure mode
  2. Establishing a wireless network connection using the Printer Setting Tool: Infrastructure mode
  3. Establishing a wireless network connection using Wireless Direct
  4. Establishing a wireless network connection using the Ad-hoc mode

  1. Establishing a wireless network connection using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™): Infrastructure mode

If your WLAN access point/router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™), settings and connections can be configured easily with the press of a button.

    1. First, confirm that your WLAN access point/router has the WPS symbol and place the printer close to the WLAN access point/router.
    2. Press the WPS button on your wireless access point/router, and press and hold the Wi-Fi button (Wi-Fi) button on the printer for about five seconds.
The Wi-Fi indicator (Wi-Fi) indicator on the printer flashes in green.
    3. When the connection is established, the Wi-Fi indicator (Wi-Fi) indicator lights in green.

When you press and hold the Wi-Fi button (Wi-Fi) button for 5 seconds, the printer will try to connect using WPS for 2 minutes.

  2. Establishing a wireless network connection using the Printer Setting Tool: Infrastructure mode

    For Windows:

    1. Confirm the SSID (network name) and password (network key) of your WLAN access point/router beforehand.
    2. Connect the printer and computer with a USB cable.
    3. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button (Wi-Fi) button on your printer for one second to turn the Wi-Fi function on. The Wi-Fi indicator (Wi-Fi) indicator starts flashing in green once every three seconds.

    6. Enter the SSID that you have noted, or click [Search] and select the SSID from the displayed list.
    7. Enter the password in the [Passphrase] field.

The required information depends on the authentication method and encryption mode; enter only the information relevant to your network environment.

    8. To send the settings to the printer, click [Apply].
    9. When the connection is established, the Wi-Fi indicator (Wi-Fi) indicator lights in green.

    For Mac:

If you want to establish a wireless network connection using the Infrastructure mode, without using WPS, please choose the method "Establishing a wireless network connection using a USB cable temporarily (recommended) " mentioned above. Establish a connection using the Wireless Device Setup Wizard.
