Dial Restriction for Fax sending.
This function prevents transmission to the wrong destination and restricts sending a fax by manual dialling.
For example, you can prevent transmission to the wrong destination by requiring the user to enter the fax number twice, or you can prevent private use of fax by requiring using the Address Book.
For each method of specifying the destination listed below, you can require entering the destination twice or restrict using the method by turning Dial Restriction on to prevent wrong fax transmission. (Available options to specify destinations may differ depending on the Brother machine being used.)
- Dial Pad : Entering manually using the dial pad.
- Address Book : Specifying from the Address Book.
- Shortcuts : Specifying from the registered Shortcuts.
- LDAP Server : Specifying from the destinations registered on LDAP server.
If you choose Enter # twice
When the user presses Fax Start, the machine will ask the user to re-enter the destination. After the user enters the same destination again and presses Fax Start, a fax will be sent.
If you choose On
The user cannot use the method to specify the destination.
There are two ways to set up Dial Restriction - using Web Based Management or the Touchscreen on the machine.
The following shows how to set Dial Restriction using Web Based Management as an example.
Setup Dial Restriction using Web Based Management
Access Web Based Management.
> Click here to see how to access Web Based Management.
If you have previously set your own password, go to STEP3.
If you have not previously set your own password, change the default login password.
> Click here to see how to change the password.
Click the Fax tab and choose Dial Restriction in the left navigation bar.
Set the option for each method of specifying the destination such as Dial Pad, Address Book, Shortcut, and LDAP Server as needed and then click Submit.
Off...The user can use the method to specify the destination.
Enter # twice...The machine will ask the user to re-enter the fax number or specify the destination. In Dial Pad, after re-entering the same number, the machine will start dialling. In Address Book, Shortcut, or LDAP Server, after specifying the same destination with the same method, the machine will start dialling.
On...The user cannot use the method to specify the destination.
- Close Web Based Management. The settings are now complete.
You can also setup using the Touchscreen on the machine. If you do not want users changing the settings, turn Setting Lock on.
