I cannot print or scan using iPrint&Scan on my Windows Phone®

To print or scan using iPrint&Scan, make sure that the Brother machine is connected to the same wireless network as the Windows Phone®.

The machine can be connected either wirelessly or by using a wired network connection to a wireless router/access point. (The available connection type will vary by model.)

  • Make sure your Brother machine supports scanning from its scanner glass or Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
  • The illustrations and instructions may vary depending on your Brother machine and the version of iPrint&Scan you are using.

Do the following:

 

  1. Make sure that the Brother machine is turned on and its screen displays no errors. If the machine's screen is displaying any errors, clear them first and then try to print or scan. For more information about error messages, see the Online User’s Guide in the Manuals section of this website.
  2. Make sure that the latest version of iPrint&Scan is installed on your Windows Phone®. You can download it from the Microsoft® Store.

  3. Your Windows Phone® and Brother machine must be connected to the same wireless network. Mobile data connections are not supported.
    For more information about connecting your Windows Phone® to your network, see the Windows Phone® documentation.
  4. Display the list of apps on your Windows Phone® and tap the Brother iPrint&Scan icon.
  5. Select a print or scan option and follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. When the Print or Scan Settings window appears, make sure your Brother machine is selected.
    • If your machine is selected, go to step 9.
    • If a different machine is selected or if Device Is Not Selected is displayed, make sure your machine is turned on and then tap Printer or Scanner. Go to step 7.

  7. iPrint&Scan will search your network and display a list of available machines.
  8. Do one of the following:
    • If your Brother machine is displayed in the list, tap your machine. Go to step 9.
    • If your Brother machine is not displayed in the list, tap search and then enter your machine's IP address. You can find your machine's IP address on the Network Configuration Report (List).

If your Brother machine is not listed, check the following:
  • Make sure that the Brother machine is on the same network as the Windows Phone®.
  • Turn your wireless router/access point and your Windows Phone® off and then on again, and then try to search again.
    Wait at least five minutes for the Windows Phone® to join the wireless network.
  • Turn your Brother machine off and then on again, and try to search again.
    Wait at least five minutes for the machine to join the wireless network.
  • If you still cannot connect to your Brother machine, uninstall Brother iPrint&Scan and install it again from the Microsoft® Store.

  1. When the device has been selected, try to print or scan again using iPrint&Scan.
