You can save toner using this feature. When you set Toner Save Mode to On, print appears lighter.

Please follow the steps below to change the setting:

For Windows users:
NOTE: The steps and screens may differ depending on the operating system and application being used.

1. Select the print command in your application.
2. Select your model, and then click the printing properties or preferences button.
   The printer driver window appears.
    
   
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Check the Toner Save Mode check box on or off.
    
   
5. Click OK.

For Macintosh users:
NOTE: The steps and screens may differ depending on the operating system being used.

1. Open the Print dialogue. Please refer to the instructions, "Change the printer driver settings (For Mac OS X)".
    
2. [Mac OS X 10.4.11 - 10.5.x users]
   1. Choose Print Settings from the print options pop-up menu.
   2. Click Basic and then check the Toner Save Mode check box on or off.
      

    

   [Mac OS X 10.6.x or later users]
   1. Choose Print Settings from the print options pop-up menu.
   2. Click the Advanced triangle mark and then choose Toner Save Mode from the list box.
   3. Check the Toner Save Mode check box on or off.
       
      

    

3. If you want to print with this setting only one time, click Print.
   If you want to print with this setting every time, please go on to STEP 4.
4. Choose "Save As..." or "Save Current Settings as Preset..." option for Presets.
5. Type the name of this setting in the newly opened dialogue. E.g. TonerSaveMode
6. Click OK. Your customised setting will be saved and shown as the choices for Presets.
7. Choose your customised setting created in STEP 4 - 6 and then click Print. The document will be printed out.
