FAQs & Troubleshooting

FAQs & Troubleshooting

Whenever anyone attempts to leave a message, all they hear are funny sounds and eventually a high pitched squeal.

The problem is that the Message Manager unit is in the F/T mode and not the Message Manager mode. The F/T mode will not allow any voice messages to be recorded. You must set up Message Manager in the following order:

How to setup Message Manager:

You must set up Message Manager in the following order:

  1. Set the Voice Store.
  2. Setting Fax Forward/Fax Storage.
  3. Record the Message Manager's Outgoing Message(TAD MESSAGE).
  4. Activate Message Manager (TAD) Mode by pressing the Digital TAD key on the control panel.

Setting the Voice Store:

  1. Press the Menu/Set key on the Control Panel.
  2. Press the up or down arrow key and select SETUP TAD,  then VOICE STORE.
  3. Press the up or down arrow key and select ON, and press Menu/Set. If you want to store voice messages in the external answering machine, select EXT.
  4. Press Menu/Set.
  5. Press Stop/Exit.

Setting Fax Forward/Fax Storage:

  • FAX FORWARD
When you select FAX FORWARD, your fax machine stores the received fax in the Message Manager memory. The fax machine will then dial the fax number you've programmed and forwards the fax message.

  • FAX STORAGE
If you select FAX STORAGE, your fax machine stores the received fax in the memory. You will be able to retrieve fax messages from another location using the Remote Retrieval commands.

  • OFF
Incoming faxes are not stored in memory, but will be printed on paper.

  1. Press the Menu/Set key on the Control Panel.
  2. Press the up or down arrow key and select SETUP TAD, then FAX FORWARD/STORE.
  3. Press Menu/Set.
  4. Press the up or down arrow key and select FAX FORWARD, FAX STORAGE or OFF as you want.
  5. Press Menu/Set.
  6. Press Stop/Exit.

Recording the Message Manager's Outgoing Message (TAD MESSAGE):
Recording the Message Manager's Outgoing Message (TAD MESSAGE) is the second step you need to follow before you can turn on the Message Manager. Make sure your OGM (Outgoing Message) is less than 20 seconds long.

  1. Press the Menu/Set key on the Control Panel.
  2. Press the up or down arrow key and select SETUP TAD,  then OGM. The screen prompts you to choose an OGM.
  3. Press the up or down arrow key to reach TAD MESSAGE.

This is the only setting you can select if you want to turn the Message Manager on.

  1. Press Menu/Set.
  2. Press the up or down arrow key and select RECORD MSG. Press Menu/Set.
  3. Pick up the handset to record a message.
    For example:
