FAQs & Troubleshooting

Set the Brother machine to prevent public access to certain features.

TX Lock lets you prevent unauthorized access to your Brother machine.


When TX Lock is on, the following operations are available:

  • Receiving faxes

  • Fax Forwarding (if Fax Forwarding was already on)

  • Paging (if Paging was already on) *if applicable

  • Remote Retrieval (if Fax Storage was already on)

  • PC Fax Receiving (if PC Fax Receive was already on) *if applicable

  • Receiving telephone calls (If your Brother machine has a handset)


When TX Lock is on, the following operations are not available:

  • Sending faxes

  • Copying

  • PC printing *if applicable

  • PC scanning *if applicable

  • Making telephone calls (If your Brother machine has a handset)

  • When TX Lock is on, you will not to be able to schedule new Delayed Faxes or Polling jobs; however, any pre-scheduled Delayed Faxes will still be sent so you won't lose them.




SETTING UP THE PASSWORD

Before you can turn TX Lock on, you must set a password.



To program the TX Lock password, follow these steps:


  1. Press Menu.

  2. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose General Setup and press OK.

  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Security and press OK.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose TX Lock and press OK.

  5. Enter a four-digit number for the password using numbers 0-9 and press OK.

  6. If you are entering the password for the first time, the LCD will show "Verify:".

  7. Re-enter the password and press OK.

  8. Press Stop/Exit.


TURNING TX LOCK ON

Once you have programmed a password, follow these steps to turn TX Lock on:


  1. Press Menu.

  2. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose General Setup and press OK.

  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Security and press OK.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose TX Lock and press OK.

  5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Set TX Lock and press OK.

  6. Enter the registered four-digit password and press OK.

    The machine goes offline and the LCD shows "TX Lock Mode".

TURNING TX LOCK OFF

To turn TX Lock off, follow these steps:


  1. Press Menu.

  2. Enter the registered four-digit password.

  3. Press OK.

    TX Lock will automatically be turned off.

    If you enter the wrong Password, the LCD shows "Wrong Password" and stays offline. The machine will stay in TX Lock Mode until the registered password is entered.




CHANGING THE PASSWORD

To change your TX Lock password, follow these steps:


  1. Press Menu.

  2. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose General Setup and press OK.

  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Security and press OK.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose TX Lock and press OK.

  5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Set Password and press OK.

  6. Enter the registered four-digit password and press OK.

  7. Enter a four-digit number for the new password and press OK.

  8. If the LCD shows Verify:, re-enter the new password and press OK.

  9. Press Stop/Exit.
