Please check the following.
         

  1. Is the print head dirty?
    Clean the print head.
    For details, see “Print head maintenance” in “What maintenance should be performed?”.
                         
  2. Is there slack in the ink ribbon cassette?
    Make sure that there is no slack in the ink ribbon cassette, and then reinstall it.
    For details, see “Replacing the ink ribbon cassette”.
