Scan a document and e-mail it as an attachment using the SCAN key on my Brother machine

You can scan a document directly into your default E-mail application and send the scanned data as an attachment by pressing the SCAN key on the control panel of your Brother machine.

* If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps under "For touchscreen models" below.

If you want to change the scan settings, click here to see the details of how to change the scan settings.

  1. Load your document.
  2. Press SCAN.
  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Scan to E-mail.
  4. Press OK.
  5. (For network users)
    1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the destination computer you want to use for E-mailing your document.
      Note:
      If the computer is not displayed, click here to see how to solve the issue.
    2. Press OK.
    3. If the LCD prompts you to enter a PIN number, enter the 4-digit PIN number for the destination computer on the control panel and press OK.
  6. Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start.
    The machine starts scanning the document, creates a file attachment, and launches your E-mail application, displaying the new message waiting to be addressed.


<For touch screen models>
  1. Load your document.
  2. Press SCAN.
  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Scan to email.
  4. Press Scan to email.
  5. (For network users)
    1. Press PC. (This step might be skipped in some models.)
    2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display the destination computer you want to use for E-mailing your document.
      Note:
      If the computer is not displayed, click here to see how to solve the issue.
    3. Press the destination computer and press OK.
    4. If the LCD prompts you to enter a PIN number, enter the 4-digit PIN number for the destination computer on the control panel, and press OK.
  6. Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start.
    The machine starts scanning the document, creates a file attachment, and launches your E-mail application, displaying the new message waiting to be addressed.
