FAQs & Troubleshooting

My Brother machine has no power.

If you cannot power your Brother machine on by pressing and holding the power button on the machine’s control panel, do the following:

  1. > Check if the machine is in Sleep Mode
  2. > Check the power cord and AC power outlet (electrical socket)
  3. > Try to restore power to the machine

1.  Check if the machine is in Sleep Mode

When the Brother machine is idle for a certain period of time, it will enter Sleep Mode and its display (hereinafter called LCD) on the control panel will be blank.

  • If you press the LCD, it should light up and display the date and time.
  • If the LCD remains blank, your Brother machine is not powered on. Go to the next step.

 2. Check the power cord and AC power outlet (electrical socket)

If the LCD is blank even after you have pressed it:

  • Make sure that the machine's power cord is connected directly to the AC power outlet (electrical socket) and that no surge protectors or power switches are used.
  • Make sure that the socket is working. Disconnect your machine, and try to plug another device directly into the same socket. If that device does not work either, connect the Brother machine to a different working socket.
  • Make sure that any wall switches are ON.
  • Try a different power cord (if available).

If you still cannot power the machine on, go to the next step.

3. Try to restore power to the machine

Try the following methods to restore power to the Brother machine:

3.1 Method 1
  1. Remove the power cord for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Press and hold the ON/OFF button down, and then insert the power cord back into the Brother machine.
  3. Do not release the ON/OFF button until the machine has been powered on completely or after 15 seconds.
  4. Repeat this procedure up to three times if necessary.
3.2 Method 2
  1. Remove the power cord for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Remove the paper tray from the Brother machine.
  3. Reconnect the power cord, and then power the machine on.
  4. When the machine has been powered on completely, insert the paper tray back into the machine.
