How do I send a fax to multiple fax numbers? (Broadcasting)

Broadcasting is a feature of your Brother machine that allows you to automatically send the same fax message to multiple fax numbers. You can include Groups, One Touch locations, Speed Dial locations, and up to 50 manually dialed numbers in a single broadcast. You cannot Broadcast a fax in colour.

To broadcast a fax, please follow these instructions:

If you are using the ADF (automatic document feeder)

  1. Press Fax.
  2. Place the document you will be faxing in the ADF.
  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Broadcasting.
  4. Press OK.
  5. You can add numbers to the broadcast in the following ways:

    1. Adding manually dialed numbers using the dial pad:

      1. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Add Number.
      2. Enter the number using the dial pad.
      3. Press OK.

    2. Adding One Touch or Speed Dial locations:

      1. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Speed Dial or Phone Book.
      2. Press OK.
      3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to search for the speed dial or one touch number in Alphabetical Order or Numerical Order.
      4. Press OK.
      5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select the number you would like to include in the Broadcasting.
      6. Press OK.

If both One Touch Dial and Speed Dial are available for your Brother machine, One Touch Dial locations begin with an asterisk (*) and Speed Dial locations begin with the hash sign (#).

  6. After you have entered all the fax numbers by repeating STEP 5, press the Up or Down arrow key to select Complete.
  7. Press OK.
  8. Press Mono Start.

The Brother machine will scan the document into memory and begin sending the information to each fax number you entered.

  • If a particular number is busy, the fax unit will redial the number automatically. If there is no response from a particular number, the fax machine will not redial it.
  • The available memory will vary depending on the types of jobs in the memory and the number of locations used for broadcasting. If you broadcast to the maximum numbers available, you will not be able to use dual access and delayed fax.
  • If the memory is full, press Stop/Exit to stop the job. If more than one page has been scanned, press Mono Start to send the portion that is in the memory.
