Prevent public users from changing the settings of my Brother machine.
Setting Lock is a feature that lets you set a password to stop other people from accidentally changing your machine settings. While Setting Lock is On, you cannot access Menu or edit the numbers you stored in the Address Book. You can still use the Address Book to send faxes (if applicable) and E-mail messages to previously stored numbers.
For models that support Remote Setup:
Machine settings cannot be changed through the Remote Setup utility while Setting Lock is On.
Use the following steps to set up and use the Setting Lock feature:
SETTING UP THE PASSWORD

Press Menu and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.

Enter a four-digit number for the password.

Press OK.

Re-enter the password when the LCD reads Verify:

Press OK.
- Press Stop/Exit.

Make a careful note of your password. If you forget it, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".

You must set up a password before you can turn Setting Lock on.
- If you have already set the password, you will not need to set it again.
TURNING SETTING LOCK ON

Press Menu and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.

Press On.

Enter your four-digit password.
- Press OK.
- Press Stop/Exit.
TURNING SETTING LOCK OFF

Press Setting Lock on the LCD.

Enter the registered four-digit administrator password by pressing the buttons on the touchscreen.
Press OK.
CHANGING THE PASSWORD

Press Menu and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.

Press Set Password.

Enter your four-digit password.
- Press OK.

Enter a four-digit number for the new password.

Press OK.

Re-enter the new password when the LCD reads Verify:

Press OK.
- Press Stop/Exit.
