FAQs & Troubleshooting

I'm using Windows® XP. I can't uninstall PaperPort® 8.0 and I get an error message "Fatal error during installation" . What can I do?

The software package may not be installed correctly into your PC or the programs were uninstalled in the incorrect order. When uninstalling any of the programs from the CD, PaperPort® must be uninstalled BEFORE MFL-Pro Suite (MFC Software Suite).

To uninstall PaperPort® 8.0 correctly:

  1. You will need to re-install all components of the software provided on the supplied CD-ROM. For instructions on how to reinstall, please refer to the Quick Setup Guide provided with your unit.

    If you do not have the Quick Setup Guide, you can download it from the download section for this model on this web page.

  2. Once all components have been reinstalled, you can then uninstall the PaperPort® 8.0 software through Add or Remove Programs.
    Click Start-->Control Panel-->Add or Remove Programs.
    (If you changed your Start Menu settings to Classic Windows,
    click Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs.)

  3. If you no longer need the MFL-Pro software after uninstalling PaperPort®, you can uninstall it now. To uninstall MFL-Pro Suite (MFC Software Suite), click Start-->All Programs-->Brother-->Brother MFL-Pro Suite (MFC Software Suite)-->Uninstall.

Be sure to uninstall PaperPort® before you uninstall MFL-Pro Suite (MFC Software Suite).
