How do I adjust the number of times my Brother machine rings before it answers?

The Ring Delay setting determines the number of times your Brother machine rings before it answers in Fax Only or Fax/Tel Mode. If your Brother machine shares a line with other telephones or if you subscribe to your telephone company's Distinctive Ring service, you should choose the maximum number of rings.

To change your Brother machine's Ring Delay setting, follow these steps:

  1. Press the FAX key to illuminate it.

  2. Press MENU/SET and choose Fax => Setup Receive => Ring Delay.

  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose how many times the line will ring before the Brother machine answers it.

    - The number you can choose varies depending on the model and country you bought the machine in.

    - If you choose 00, the line will not ring at all.

  4. Press the MENU/SET key.

  5. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
