FAQs & Troubleshooting

I'm using Windows Vista. An error message referring to BRSVC01A.EXE appears after installing the printer driver and I cannot print. What should I do?

If you are not using the Brother machine and you do not have to use the Brother machine in future, disabling BrSplService would possibly solve the problem.
(start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Administrative Tool -> Service -> BrSplService -> In General tab, select "Disabled" for Startup type.)

To resolve this issue, please update the program of the installed driver following the instructions below:

  1. Right click on a blank area on your Desktop, click NEW and then click FOLDER. A folder titled "New Folder" will appear on your Desktop.

  2. Right click the folder, click RENAME from the drop down options and type BROTHER.

  3. The Brother End-User License Agreement will appear. If you agree to the terms, click I ACCEPT.

  4. "File Download" will appear. Click SAVE. "Save as" will appear.

  5. From the "SAVE IN" drop down, specify the directory you created in the step1.
Then, click SAVE to save the driver in the directory. This will begin the download of the driver.

  6. Once the download is complete, "Download complete" may appear.
If it does appear, click OPEN. If it does not appear, go to the directory you created in Step1. Double click the downloaded file "brsp2p1.EXE" to extract the file.
(ZIP is on the icon and .exe may appear at the end of the name).

  7. "Zip Self-Decompression" will appear. Click DECOMPRESS.

  8. "The decompression process was successful" will appear. Click OK.

  9. A folder, "brxsp2p1" will be created.

  10. Close all applications on your computer.

  11. Open the "brxsp2p1" folder and double click setup.exe.

  12. "You must restart your computer. Do you restart your computer now?" will appear. Click OK.

  13. The program has been changed and you can print now.
