Prevent unauthorized access to my Brother machine.
TX Lock lets you prevent unauthorized access to your Brother machine.
When TX Lock is on, the following operations are available:
- Receiving faxes
- Fax Forwarding (if Fax Forwarding was already on)
- Paging (if Paging was already on) *if applicable
- Remote Retrieval (if Fax Storage was already on)
- PC Fax Receiving* (if PC Fax Receiving was already on)
* While TX Lock is on, your machine will receive faxes and store them in its memory.
When you turn TX Lock off, the faxes will automatically be sent to the PC you designated.
When TX Lock is on, the following operations are not available:
- Sending faxes
- Copying
- PC printing
- Scanning
- PhotoCaputure
- Operation from the control panel
SETTING UP THE PASSWORD
Before you can turn TX Lock on, you must set a password.
- If you have already set the password, you do not need to set it again.
- Make a careful note of your password. If you forget it, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".
To program the TX Lock password, follow these steps:
- Press MENU on the screen.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on touch panel to display Fax.
- Press Fax.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel to display Miscellaneous.
- Press Miscellaneous.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel to display TX Lock.
- Press TX Lock.
- Press the buttons on the screen to enter a four-digit, numerical password.
- Press OK.
- The LCD will read Verify.
- Press the buttons on the screen to re-enter the password.
- Press OK.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
TURNING TX LOCK ON
Once you have programmed a password, follow these steps to turn TX Lock on:
- Press MENU on the screen.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel to display Fax.
- Press Fax.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel to display Miscellaneous.
- Press Miscellaneous.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel to display TX Lock.
- Press TX Lock.
- Press Set TX Lock.
- Press the buttons on the screen to enter the four-digit password.
- Press OK.
The Brother machine will go offline. Its LCD will read TX Lock Mode.
TURNING TX LOCK OFF
To turn TX Lock off, follow these steps:
- Press Unlock on the screen.
- Press the buttons on the screen to enter the password.
- Press OK.
TX Lock will automatically be turned off. The machine's LCD will display the date and time.
If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will display Wrong Password and the machine will stay offline. The Brother machine will remain in TX Lock Mode until you enter the correct password.
CHANGING THE PASSWORD
To change your TX Lock password, follow these steps:
- Press MENU on the screen.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel to display Fax.
- Press Fax.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel to display Miscellaneous.
- Press Miscellaneous.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel to display TX Lock.
- Press TX Lock.
- Press Set Password.
- Press the buttons on the screen to enter the current four-digit password.
- Press OK.
- Press the buttons on the screen to enter a new four-digit password.
- Press OK.
- The LCD will read Verify.
- Press the buttons on the screen to re-enter the new password.
- Press OK.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
