FAQs & Troubleshooting

Improve the quality of the images from my Brother machine's PhotoCapture Center.

Listed below are instructions for various adjustments that can be made to improve the quality of the images you print from your Brother machine's PhotoCapture Center®.


Changes to these settings are temporary. Each of these settings will return to its factory default three minutes after you print, unless you have set the Mode Timer to two minutes or less. To make your settings the new defaults, go to SECTION 5: SETTING YOUR CHANGES AS THE NEW DEFAULTS.

 

SECTION 1: GENERAL PRINT QUALITY

To adjust the general print quality of the images you print from your Brother machine's PhotoCapture Center®, follow these steps:

  1. Press the PHOTOCAPTURE key to illuminate it.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Print Quality.

  3. Do one of the following:

    - For MFC and DCP-770CW Users:

      Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to choose a print quality setting.

      You can choose Normal or Photo.

    - For DCP Users(Not available for DCP-770CW):

    1. Press the OK key.

    2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose a print quality setting.

      You can choose Normal or Photo.

  4. Press the OK key.

  5. If you do not want to change additional settings, press the Color (Colour) Start key to print.

 

SECTION 2: BRIGHTNESS

To make the images you print from your Brother machine's PhotoCapture Center® darker or lighter, follow these steps:

  1. Press the PHOTOCAPTURE key to illuminate it.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Brightness.

  3. Do one of the following:

    - For MFC and DCP-770CW Users:

    • Press the LEFT ARROW key to make the print darker.
    • Press the RIGHT ARROW key to make the print lighter.

    - For DCP Users(Not available for DCP-770CW):

    1. Press the OK key.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • Press the DOWN ARROW key to make the print darker.
      • Press the UP ARROW key to make the print lighter.

  4. Press the OK key.

  5. If you do not want to change additional settings, press the Color (Colour) Start key to print.

 

SECTION 3: CONTRAST

To make the images you print from your Brother machine's PhotoCapture Center® sharper and more vivid, follow these steps:

  1. Press the PHOTOCAPTURE key to illuminate it.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Contrast.

  3. Do one of the following:

    - For MFC and DCP-770CW Users:

    • Press the LEFT ARROW key to decrease the contrast.
    • Press the RIGHT ARROW key to increase the contrast.

    - For DCP Users(Not available for DCP-770CW):

    1. Press the OK key.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • Press the DOWN ARROW key to decrease the contrast.
      • Press the UP ARROW key to increase the contrast.

  4. Press the OK key.

  5. If you do not want to change additional settings, press the Color (Colour) Start key to print.

 

SECTION 4: COLOR ENHANCEMENT (TRUE2LIFE®)

Color Enhancement (True2Life®) offers the following features:

  • WHITE BALANCE: This setting adjusts the hue of the white areas of an image. Lighting, camera settings, and other factors will affect the white areas of a picture by making them appear slightly pink, yellow, or another color.

  • SHARPNESS: This setting enhances the details of an image, and is similar to adjusting the fine focus on a camera. If the image is not in true focus and you cannot see its fine details, adjust the Sharpness setting.

  • COLOR DENSITY: This setting adjusts the total amount of color in an image. You can increase or decrease the amount of color in a washed-out image to improve it.

To turn on the color-enhancement (True2Life®) features and make the images you print from your Brother machine's PhotoCapture Center® more vivid, follow these steps:

  1. Press the PHOTOCAPTURE key to illuminate it.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Color Enhance or True2Life.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • To customize the White Balance, Sharpness, or Color Density, follow these steps:

      1. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to choose On.

      2. Go to STEP 5.

    • If you do not want to customize the settings, follow these steps:

      1. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to choose Off.

      2. Go to STEP 9.

  5. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose White Balance, Sharpness, or Color Density.

  6. Do one of the following:

    - For MFC and DCP-770CW Users:

      Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to adjust the setting.

    - For DCP Users(Not available for DCP-770CW):

    1. Press the OK key.

    2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to adjust the setting.

  7. Press the OK key.

  8. Do one of the following:

    • If you want to change another color enhancement setting, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose another option.

    • If you want to change other settings, follow these steps:

      1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Exit.

      2. Press the OK key.

  9. If you do not want to change additional settings, press the Color (Colour) Start key to print.
When you use the color-enhancement (True2Life®) feature, your printing time will be slower.

 

SECTION 5: SETTING YOUR CHANGES AS THE NEW DEFAULTS

You can save the print settings you use most often by making them the new default settings. These settings will remain in place until you change them again.

To make one or more of your print settings the new defaults, follow these steps:

  1. Choose the new setting under one of the four sections above.

  2. Press the OK key.

    Repeat STEPS 1 AND 2 for each setting you want to change.

  3. After changing the last setting, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Set New Default.

  4. Press the OK key.

  5. Do one of the following:

    - For MFC:
      Press 1 to save the print settings.

    - For DCP:
      Press + to save the print settings.

  6. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
