FAQs & Troubleshooting

I cannot connect to the Active Directory running on Windows Server 2003 using the LDAP feature. The error message "error code=8" appears at the end of the configuration using Web Based Management, or "Server Time-out" error message appears on the LCD. What should I do?

Your Brother device supports Kerberos and Simple authentication. Encrypted authentication and SSL/TLS are not supported.

  • If the LDAP server supports Kerberos authentication, we recommend using Kerberos authentication.
The Kerberos Authentication provides strong authentication between LDAP server and your machine.

  • If the LDAP server does not support Kerberos authentication or you want to use Simple authentication, please follow the procedure below to confirm and change the setting value on the Active Directory Server.

    1. Launch Domain Controller Security Policy from Administrative Tools.
    2. Select "Security Settings" => "Local Policies" => "Security Options".
    3. Set LDAP server signing requirements to "None" in Domain Controller.
    4. Reboot the Active Directory server.
