How do I adjust my Brother machine's tray use for copying and faxing?
Changing the default tray use in Copy Mode
You can change the default tray your Brother machine uses for printing copies by following these steps:
*If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps of "For Touchscreen models" below.
- Press Tray Setting.
- Press UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Tray Use:Copy.
- Press LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to choose Tray#1, Tray#2 or Tray Select.
- Press OK.
- Press UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Complete.
- Press OK.
- Press Tray Setting.
- Press UP OR DOWN ARROW to display Tray Use:Copy.
- Press Tray Use:Copy.
- Press Tray#1, Tray#2, or Auto Select.
- Press Stop/Eixt.
Temporarily changing the tray in Copy Mode
You can change the tray your Brother machine uses for the next copy only by following these steps:
*If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps of "For Touchscreen models" below.
- Press Copy.
- Do one of the following:
- Place the document you want to copy in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face up, top edge first.
- Place the document you want to copy face down on the flat scanner glass.
- Place the document you want to copy in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face up, top edge first.
- Enter the number of copies you want.
- Press UP OR DOWN ARROW to choose Tray Select.
- Press LEFT R RIGHT ARROW to Tray#1, Tray#2 or Auto Select.
- Press OK.
- If you do not want to change additional settings, press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start.
- Press Copy.
- Do one of the following:
- Place the document you want to copy in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face up, top edge first.
- Place the document you want to copy face down on the flat scanner glass.
- Place the document you want to copy in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face up, top edge first.
- Enter the number of copies you want.
- Press LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW to display Tray Select.
- Press Tray#1, Tray#2 or Auto Select.
- If you do not want to change additional settings, press Black (Mono) or Color (Colour) Start.
Changing the tray use in Fax Mode
You can change the default tray your Brother machine uses for printing faxes by following these steps:
*If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps of "For Touchscreen models" below.
- Press Tray Setting.
- Press UP OR DOWN ARROR key to choose Tray Use:Fax.
- Press LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to choose Tray#1, Tray#2 or Auto Select.
- Press OK.
- Press UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Complete.
- Press OK.
<For Touchscreen models>
- Press Tray Setting.
- Press UP OR DOWN ARROW to display Tray Use:Fax.
- Press Tray Use:Fax.
- Press Tray#1, Tray#2, or Auto Select.
Auto Select will allow your machine to take paper from Tray #1 first, or from Tray #2 if:
- Tray #2 is set to a different paper size that is more suitable for the received faxes.
- Both trays are using the same paper size, but Tray #1 is not set to use plain paper.
- Tray #2 is set to a different paper size that is more suitable for the received faxes.
- Press STOP/EXIT.
