Set up a Brother machine and your mobile device on a wireless network
NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.
You can use a wireless router or access point to connect your Brother machine to your mobile device.

1. Connect your Brother machine to your mobile device without using a wireless router
You can set up a wireless network connection between your machine and a mobile device without using a wireless router or access point.
Follow the steps below to set up a Brother machine on a wireless network without a wireless router or access point.
1.1 Set up your Brother machine

Check the label that printed SSID (Network Name) and Network Key (Password) attached to the bottom of the scanner.
Write down the SSID name and Network Key. You will need this information later. -
Open the Front Cover and push (Stop) for five seconds. Confirm that the LED indicators blink for one second, and then close the Front Cover.
1.2 Set up your mobile device
When you have finished setting up your Brother machine, follow the instructions below:

Tap the Settings icon.

Tap Wi-Fi.

If your Wi-Fi is turned off, turn it on.

Find the Network Name (SSID) you wrote down earlier, and then tap it.

Enter the Network Key (Password) you wrote down earlier, and then tap CONNECT.

The wireless connection setup is complete if Connected appears under the Network Name (SSID) you selected.

Tap the Settings icon.

Tap the Settings icon.

Tap Wi-Fi.

If your Wi-Fi is turned off, turn it on.

Find the Network Name (SSID) you wrote down earlier, and then tap it.

Enter the Network Key (Password) you wrote down earlier, and then tap Join.

The wireless connection setup is complete if a check mark appears next to the Network Name (SSID) you selected.

Tap the Settings icon.
2. Connect your Brother machine to your mobile device using a wireless router
To set up your Brother machine on a wireless network with a wireless router or access point, follow the steps below.
2.1 Before you set up your connection
Write down the Network Name (SSID) and Network Key (Password) of your wireless router or access point. You will need this information later.
After checking the network information of your wireless router or access point, go to the next step.
2.2 Set up the Brother machine
To connect your scanner (used as a standalone device) to a router, a computer connection is required.
Please set up your Brother machine on a wireless network using a computer (Windows/macOS).

2.3 Set up your mobile device
When finished configuring your Brother machine, do one of the following to configure your mobile device:

Tap the Settings icon.

Tap Wi-Fi.

If your Wi-Fi is turned off, turn it on.

Find the Network Name (SSID) you wrote down earlier, and then tap it.
