How do I make my faxed documents lighter or darker? (Fax Contrast)

For most documents, the Brother machine's default Fax Contrast setting of Auto will produce the best results. This setting automatically chooses the suitable contrast for your document.

If you want to fax a very light or very dark document, changing the contrast may improve the fax quality.

Please follow the steps below to change your Brother machine's Fax Contrast setting.

  1. Press FAX to illuminate it.

  2. Place the document you want to copy into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face down, top edge first.

  3. Press Menu.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Fax and press OK.

  5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Setup Send and press OK.

  6. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Contrast and press OK.

  7. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Auto, Light, or Dark.

    • Use Dark to make the faxed document lighter.

    • Use Light to make the faxed document darker.

  8. Press OK.

Even if you choose Light or Dark, the Brother machine will send the fax using the Auto setting if you set Fax Resolution to Photo.
