Set up my Brother machine's electronic cover page

You can program your Brother machine to transmit an electronic cover page with the faxes you send. This cover page will show your Station ID and, depending on the situation, a comment and the number of pages you are faxing. If you are faxing to a One Touch or Speed Dial number, the cover page will include the recipient's name if you stored it with their number.


You must program your Brother machine's Station ID before you can use the electronic cover page feature.

You can include one of three preset comments on your cover page or you can program your own comment.

The Preset comments are:

  1. Comment Off
  2. Please Call
  3. Urgent
  4. Confidential

You can send an electronic cover page before every fax you transmit or you can set it to be sent with the next fax only.

Composing your own comment:

Please follow the steps below to compose your own comments.

  1. Make sure you are in FAX mode.

  2. Press Menu.

  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Fax. Press OK.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Setup Send. Press OK.

  5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Coverpage Msg. Press OK.

  6. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose 5 or 6 to store your own comment. Press OK.

  7. Enter your own comment using the dial pad. Press OK.

Sending an electronic cover page with the next fax only:

You can set your Brother machine to send an electronic cover page with the next fax only.

Please follow the steps below to send an electronic cover page with the next sent fax only.

  1. Make sure you are in FAX mode.

  2. Place the document that you want to fax face down in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

  3. Press Menu.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Fax. Press OK.

  5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Setup Send. Press OK.

  6. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Coverpg Setup. Press OK.

  7. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Next Fax:On. Press OK.

  8. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose a comment. Press OK.

  9. Enter two digits to show the number of pages you are sending. Press OK.
    For example, enter 0, 2 for 2 pages or 0, 0 to leave the number of pages blank. If you make a mistake, press the Left arrow key or Clear to back up and re-enter the number of pages.

Sending an electronic cover page with every fax:

You can set your Brother machine to send an electronic cover page every time you send a fax.

Please follow the steps below to send an electronic cover page with all sent faxes.

  1. Make sure you are in FAX mode.

  2. Press Menu.

  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Fax. Press OK.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Setup Send. Press OK.

  5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Coverpg Setup. Press OK.

  6. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose On. Press OK.

  7. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose a comment. Press OK.

Using a printed cover page:

If you would like to use a cover page you can write on, your Brother machine can print one for you.

Please follow the steps below to print a cover page.

  1. Make sure you are in Fax mode.

  2. Press Menu.

  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Fax. Press OK.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Setup Send. Press OK.

  5. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Coverpg Setup. Press OK.

  6. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Print Sample.

  7. Press Start.
    Your Brother machine will print the cover page, which you can write on and manually attach to your fax.

  8. Press Stop/Exit.
