How to remove and install the needle
To remove the needle
- Always be sure to turn off the power before removing/inserting the needle.
- Do not drop the needle and needle set screw in the machine, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Turn off the main power and light switch.
- Turn the handwheel so that the line on the handwheel is aligned with the line on the machine.
- Loosen the corresponding needle set screw by turning it with the included hexagonal driver toward in the illustration, and then remove the needle.

To install the needle
Use a new needle that has been determined to be straight according to the instructins in "Checking the needle".
- Always be sure to turn off the power before removing/inserting the needle.
- Do not drop the needle and needle set screw in the machine, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Turn off the main power and light switch.
- Turn the handwheel so that the line on the handwheel is aligned with the line on the machine.
- Hold the needle with its flat side away from you and insert it up as far as it will go.
- Tighten the needle set screw securely by turning it with turning the included hexagonal driver toward in the illustration.

Be sure to insert the needles all the way.
Checking the needle
This machine uses a standard home sewing machine needle.
The recommended needle is SCHMETZ 130/705H (90/#14).

How to check the needle
Sewing with a bent needle is extremely dangerous since the needle may break while the machine is being operated.
Before using the needle, place the flat side of the needle on a flat surface and check that the distance between the needle and the flat surface is even.
If the distance between the needle and the flat surface is not even, the needle is bent.
Do not use a bent needle.
