Using the Device Settings (for Windows)

To use the Device Settings, please follow the steps below:

 

  1. Open the Printer Setting Tool.
    Refer to the FAQ: "Using the Printer Setting Tool (for Windows)".
     
  2. Select [Device Settings].
    The Device Settings window appears.
     
  3. Specify or change the settings.
    See below for detailed information.

    Applying Setting Changes to Multiple Printers

    Device Settings

    1. Menu Bar
      Commands are categorized under each menu (File, Maintenance, and About (H)) by function.
       
    2. Printer
      Specifies the printer you want to configure.
       
    3. Settings Tabs
      Contains settings that may be specified or changed.

      If Setting not available icon appears on a tab, the settings in that tab cannot be changed. In addition, the settings in the tab will not be applied to the printer even if you click [Apply]. The settings in the tab will not be saved or exported when you use the [Save in Command File] or [Export] commands.

    4. Current Settings
      Retrieves the settings from the currently-connected printer and displays them in the dialog box.  Settings will also be retrieved for parameters on tabs with Setting not available icon.
       
    5. Disable these settings
      When this check box is selected, Setting not available icon appears on the tab, and the settings can no longer be specified or changed.
      Settings in a tab where Setting not available icon appears will not be applied to the printer even if [Apply] is clicked.  In addition, the settings in the tab will not be saved or exported when you use the [Save in Command File] or [Export] commands.
       
    6. Power Settings
      Displays the current settings.
       
    7. Exit
      Exits [Device Settings] and returns to the main window of the “Printer Setting Tool”.
       
    8. Apply
      Applies the settings to the printer.
      To save the specified settings in a command file, select [Save in Command File] from the drop-down list.
      The saved command file can be used with the mass storage mode to apply the settings to a printer (QL-1110NWB only).

    1. Apply Settings to the Printer
      Applies the settings to the printer.
       
    2. Check Setting
      Displays the current settings.
       
    3. Save Settings in Command File
      Saves the specified settings in a command file.
       
    4. Import
      Imports an exported file.
       
    5. Export
      Saves the current settings in a file.
       
    6. Print Unit Settings
      Prints a report containing the current firmware version and device setting information.
      You can also print this report using the Cutter ( Cutter ) Button.
      Refer to the FAQ: "Can I print out the printer settings?".

    7. Factory Reset
      Resets all settings to the factory settings, including device settings, transferred templates and databases, and network settings (QL-1110NWB only).
       
    8. Reset only Device Settings
      Resets the device settings in the Basic tab, Advanced tab, and the Management tab to the factory settings.
       
    9. Delete Template and Database
      Deletes the templates and databases stored in the printer.
       
    10. Option Settings
      If the [Do not display an error message if the current settings cannot be retrieved at startup] check box is selected, a message will not be displayed next time.
       
    11. About
      Displays the version information.
       

    Basic Tab

    Device Settings - Basic

     

    1. Auto Power On
      Specifies whether the printer turns on automatically when the AC Power Cord is plugged into an AC power outlet.
      Available settings: [On], [Off]
       
    2. Auto Power Off
      Specifies the period of time that turns off automatically when connected to an AC power outlet.
      Available settings: [None], 1/2/4/8/12 hours

      [Auto Power Off] is disabled when connecting with wireless network, wired network, or Bluetooth connection (QL-1110NWB only).


    Advanced Tab

    Device Settings - Advanced

     

    1. Print Data after Printing
      Specifies whether or not to erase print data after printing.
      Available settings: [Keep Print Data], [Erase All Print Data]
       
    2. Printer Information Report
      Selects the information you want to include in the Printer Information Report.
      Available settings: [All], [Usage Log], [Printer Settings], [Printer Transfer Data]
       
    3. Auto Cut
      Sets the cutting method when printing multiple labels.
      Available settings: [OFF], [Auto Cut], [Cut at End] (Only cuts the places that have finished printing when multiple labels are printed.)
       
    4. Serialize Mode
      Specifies how to serialize (number) your printed labels.
      Available settings: [Cont From Last] (Select to serialize from the last number printed.), [From Starting#] (Select to serialize from the default number each time you print.)

     

    Management Tab

    Device Settings - Management

    To display this tab, you must have administrator privileges for the computer or the printer.
    Check if you have administrator privileges for the printer by clicking [Printer properties], and then clicking the [Security] tab.
    1. Command Mode
      Selects the command mode type.
      Available settings: [Raster], [ESC/P], [P-touch Template]
       
    2. Airplane Mode (QL-1110NWB only)
      Allows disabling the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi interfaces. This function is useful when you use the printer in a place where signal transmissions are not allowed.

     

    Applying Setting Changes to Multiple Printers
    1. After applying settings to the first printer, disconnect the printer from the computer, and then connect the second printer to the computer.
       
    2. Select the newly connected printer from the [Printer] drop-down list.
       
    3. Click [Apply].
      The same settings that were applied to the first printer are applied to the second printer.
       
    4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 for all printers whose settings you want to change.
      To save the current settings in a file, click [File] - [Export].
      The same settings can be applied to another printer by clicking [File] - [Import], and then selecting the exported settings file.
