FAQs & Troubleshooting

FAQs & Troubleshooting

A communication error occurs when trying to print from your computer.

Please check the following points:

  • Check that the interface cable is properly connected. Disconnect and reconnect it to your computer for a few times. Also, use the supplied interface cable as data transmission communication errors can occur when using other interface cables.
  • Check that PTCOM#(dedicated COM port for P-touch) is selected as the printer port. You can verify and change the selection of the printer port in the printer driver Properties window.
  • Check that the COM port is active. On some computers, COM ports are assigned to IrDA (Infrared Data Association) or modems as the factory setting. For assistance in changing the computer's COM port setting, refer to the instruction manual for your computer or consult the computer manufacturer.
  • On some computers, the COM port number could be shown as "2" even though there is only one serial port. Make sure that the COM port number corresponds to the port where the P-touch printer is connected.

How to check the COM port number:

    • Windows 95/98, NT4.0:

Click on [Control Panel] - [System] - [Device Manager] tab, and select [Port(COM/LPT)]. Make sure that COM port does not show an error status.
    • Windows2000:

Click on [Control Panel] - [System] - [Hardware] tab - [Device Manager], and select [Port(COM/LPT)]. Make sure that COM port does not show an error status.
