FAQs & Troubleshooting

My Brother machine makes repeated clicking noises when I try to print.

This is caused when the paper guides are set too tight in the paper tray, or the tray is overfilled. The machine clicks as the tray cannot lift the paper up to the pick-up roller.

Please follow the steps below:

NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from the representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.

  1. Pull the paper tray completely out of the Brother machine.
  2. While pressing the blue paper-guide release lever, slide the paper guides to fit the paper size make sure that the guides are firmly in the slots.
  3. Put the paper into the tray and make sure that the paper is below the maximum paper mark ().
  4. Put the paper tray firmly back in the Brother machine. Make sure that it is completely inserted into the Brother machine.
  5. Try printing again.
If the repeated clicking noises still occur, please contact Brother Customer Service from Contact Us.
