Can I reduce the size of a received fax to fit the size of the paper in the Brother machine?

  • Turning on Auto Reduction will automatically reduce the size of an incoming fax to fit the size of the paper in your machine. To set Auto Reduction mode ON, follow the instructions listed below:
*If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps of "For Touchscreen models" below.
  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose Fax and press OK.
  3. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose Setup Receive and press OK.
  4. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose Auto Reduction.
  5. Press OK.(This step might be skipped in some models.)
  6. Press the Right or Left (Up or Down*) Arrow key to choose ON (or OFF) and press OK.
  7. Press Stop/Exit.

*Step6: The direction of Arrow keys depend on your Brother machine.

 

<For Touchscreen models>
  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to display Fax.
  3. Press Fax.
  4. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to display Setup Recieve.
  5. Press Setup Receive.
  6. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to display Auto Reduction.
  7. Press Auto Reduction.
  8. Press ON (or OFF).
  9. Press Stop/Exit.


  • The machine calculates the reduction ratio by using the page size of the fax and the Paper Size setting.
    Verify the Paper Size is set correctly by follow the instructions listed below:
*If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps of "For Touchscreen models" below.
  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose General Setup and press OK.
  3. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose Paper Size.
  4. Press OK.(This step might be skipped in some models.)
  5. Press the Right or Left (Up or Down*) Arrow key to choose the correct size and press OK.
  6. Press Stop/Exit.

*Step5: The direction of Arrow keys depend on your Brother machine.

 

<For Touchscreen models>
  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press the Up or Down Arrow key display General Setup.
  3. Press General Setup.
  4. Press the Up or Down Arrow key display Paper Size.
  5. Press Paper Size.
  6. Press the Up or Down Arrow key display the paper size options, and press the correct size.
  7. Press Stop/Exit.
