How many times will my Brother machine automatically redial a busy number?

If you are sending a fax automatically and the intended recipient's line is busy, your Brother machine will automatically redial that number up to three times at five minutes intervals. If the number is still busy when your Brother machine redials it, you must make another attempt to send to it.

Please note that the Brother machine will automatically redial only if it detects a busy signal on the recipient's line.

If you are manually sending a fax and the intended recipient's line is busy, your Brother machine will not automatically redial the number. You must press the REDIAL or REDIAL/PAUSE key, then the BLACK (MONO) START or COLOR (COLOUR) START key to redial the number.

  • The REDIAL or REDIAL/PAUSE key only works if you dialed from the Brother machine's control panel.

  • Automatic redialing will not work if you are using Real Time Transmission and faxing from the flat scanner glass.

If you want to make a second call to a number you recently dialed, you can press the REDIAL or REDIAL/PAUSE key and choose one of the last 30 numbers on the Outgoing Call List:

  1. Press the REDIAL or REDIAL/PAUSE key.

  2. Press the number you want to redial.

  3. Press SEND A FAX.

  4. Press the BLACK (MONO) START or COLOR (COLOUR) START key.
