Prevent public users from changing the settings of my Brother machine.
Setting Lock is a feature that lets you set a password to stop other people from accidentally changing your machine settings.
While Setting Lock is On, you cannot change the settings without a password.
For models with Fax function:
You can only change the following Fax transmission setting that are in the Fax menu (Menu => Fax => Setup Send).
- Contrast
- Fax Resolution
- Delayed Fax
- Real Time TX
- Polled TX
- Overseas Mode
For models that support Remote Setup:
Machine settings cannot be changed through the Remote Setup utility while Stting Lock is On.
Use the following steps to set up and use the Setting Lock feature:
SETTING UP THE PASSWORD
- Press Menu and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.
- Enter a four-digit number for the password.
- Press OK.
- Re-enter the password when the LCD reads Verify:
- Press OK.
- Press Stop/Exit.
- Make a careful note of your password. If you forget it, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".
- You must set up a password before you can turn Setting Lock on.
- If you have already set the password, you will not need to set it again.
TURNING SETTING LOCK ON
- Press Menu and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose On.
- Press OK.
- Enter your four-digit password.
- Press OK.
If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The Brother machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.
- Press Stop/Exit.
TURNING SETTING LOCK OFF
- Press Menu and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.
- Enter your four-digit password.
- Press OK.
- Press OK, again.
If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.
- Press Stop/Exit.
CHANGING THE PASSWORD
- Press Menu and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Set Password.
- Press OK.
- Enter your four-digit password.
- Press OK.
If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.
- Enter a four-digit number for the new password.
- Press OK.
- Re-enter the new password when the LCD reads Verify:
- Press OK.
- Press Stop/Exit.
