Notes when installing:

Please check the firmware version of your Machine. The firmware version must be as follows. If not, the feature will not be installed.

 MFC-J2330DW: version A or later
 MFC-J2730DW: version C or later
 MFC-J3530DW: version B or later
 MFC-J3930DW: version D or later
 MFC-J5330DW: version A or later
 MFC-J5335DW: version A or later
 MFC-J5730DW: version C or later
 MFC-J5830DW(XL): version C or later
 MFC-J5930DW: version C or later
 MFC-J6530DW: version B or later
 MFC-J6535DW(XL): version D or later
 MFC-J6730DW: version B or later
 MFC-J6930DW: version D or later
 MFC-J6935DW: version D or later

If the firmware is an old version, please update the firmware.

Please install this install tool after updating the firmware.

Please make sure that the machine you are going to install the feature on is not busy. Also, make sure that there is no data left in the machine memory when running the install tool.

Please check the following before installing.

• Open Printer Properties and confirm that your printer is functioning correctly by printing a test page.
• Please close all applications and TSR's.
• If you are using a Windows XP SP2 Firewall or other Firewall software, disable it.

It is not possible to install the feature unless the following conditions are met on your machine.

• The machine is not calling or dialing a FAX.
• The machine is not scanning a document.
• The machine is not copying / or in copy settings (copy mode, number of copies, etc..).
• There are no Media cards inserted into the machine. (if applicable)
• The machine is not in the Settings Menu.
• The telephone line is not busy. Disconnect your telephone line (to prevent any incoming calls)
• There's no error message on LCD panel.

Please do not turn the machine off until the installation is completed.

How to download and install

If you see the following error message "Program failed to run", click here to learn how to solve the problem.

Note:

• You must be logged on as an Administrator.
• If the "User Account Control" prompt is displayed, click "Continue".

[When the machine is connected to the PC via USB]

1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded file. e.g. C:\bront
2. Start downloading.
3. Once downloading is completed, make sure that the machine is connected to the PC with a USB cable.
4. Double click the downloaded file.
5. You need to specify how you are connected to the internet. To see the internet connection options that you can select, click here.
6. Please follow the directions on the screen.
7. The installation will start.
8. When the "Successfully Completed" message is displayed, click 'Done'.
   If the feature is not installed into your Brother machine, please update the firmware, and then reinstall the Install Tool.
   > Click here to update the firmware.

Note: When the installation is completed, the machine will automatically restart itself. As a result of this, a warning dialog "Removing Device" is displayed on the PC. Click 'OK' to continue.

[When the machine is connected to the network]

1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded file. e.g. C:\bront
2. Start downloading.
3. Once downloading is completed, double click the downloaded file.
4. You need to specify how you are connected to the internet. To see the internet connection options that you can select, click here.
5. Please follow the directions on the screen.
6. The installation will start.
7. When the "Successfully Completed" message is displayed, click 'Done'.
   If the feature is not installed into your Brother machine, please update the firmware, and then reinstall the Install Tool.

8. If you have other machines connected to the network, you can continue installing the feature on these machines by clicking 'Continue' and selecting the model you would like to install the feature on.
