I get the error CC3-205, TW006 or TW007 when scanning with ControlCenter3.

To resolve this issue, first try to scan using a different application, such as the Scanner and Camera Wizard or Windows Fax and Scan.

 

 

1. Make sure your computer does not use multiple network connections

Perform this troubleshooting step only if an error occurs when you press the "Scan To" button on your Brother machine when it is connected to a wired or wireless network.

To check if your computer uses multiple connections, and to choose to use one, do the following:

 

  1. Launch the Command Prompt window, type "ipconfig" and press the Enter key.

  2. When your computer's network connection appears, make a note of the IP or IPv4 Address. You may need to scroll up to see all IP addresses.
  3. If you have multiple network connections (see the example below), disable one. If you need assistance, contact your network administrator or router manufacturer.

2. Reset Twain settings using the Twain Reset Tool

  1. Download the Twain Reset Tool from http://support.visioneer.com/utilities/twain_reset.exe
  2. When finished, locate the downloaded file and double-click it.
  3. Click RUN. When prompted, click OK to reset the default Twain Source.
  4. After the computer restarts, try to scan from the Brother ControlCenter3.

 

3. Enable the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service in the registry

Using the Registry Editor incorrectly may cause serious issues that may require reinstalling the operating system. Please carefully follow these instructions.

This modification will disable scanning with the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) in ControlCenter3 when using the Device Button.
To be able to scan using the ADF and the software button, make sure the "Show Scanner Interface" option is enabled in the settings.

  1. Determine if your computer is running Windows 32-bit or Windows 64-bit.

  2. Click Start.
  3. Search for the keyword regedit.
  4. Click regedit and open the Registry Editor and browse to either:
     
    • Windows 32-bit users:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Brother / ControlCenter / 3.0 / XXXXXXXXX
       
    • Windows 64-bit users:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Wow6432Node / Brother / ControlCenter / 3.0 / XXXXXXXXX

    Where "XXXXXXXXX" is the model number of your machine and connection type, for example: MFC7440N USB

  5. Left-click on DeviceInfo.

  6. On the right side of the window, right-click "EnableWIA" and then left-click Modify....
  7. In the Value Data box replace the listed number with 1 and click OK.

  8. Close the Registry Editor.
  9. Restart the computer.
  10. After the computer restarts, try to scan from the Brother ControlCenter3.

 

4. Reinstall your Brother machine's software and drivers

  1. Uninstall the Brother software and drivers.

  2. When finished, download and install the Full Driver & Software Package.
