How to Install

Before downloading an "hqx" file on your Macintosh, make sure you have StuffIt Expander by Aladdin Systems, Inc. StuffIt Expander is necessary to access the file's contents. If you do not have Stufflt Expander, you can download it as a freeware product.

  1. Make a temporary folder on your HDD to save the downloaded self-extracting file, e.g. brodrv
  2. Start downloading.
  3. Select the temporary folder where you want to store the downloaded file.
  4. Double click on the downloaded file and then follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. Make sure the Printer power switch is on.


How to install PCL driver:

  1. Connect the interface cable to your Macintosh, and then connect it to the Printer.
  2. Run the Macintosh and open the "Chooser" from the Apple menu on the Macintosh.
  3. Click on the Brother Laser icon.
  4. Select the model name that you want to connect.
  5. Close the Chooser program.


How to install PS driver:

  1. Open the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder. Open the Utilities folder.
  2. Open the Desktop Printer Utility icon.
  3. Select the Printer (LPR) option and click OK.
  4. At this point, select the correct PPD file for the machine and also configure the correct LPR information.
  5. Click Change in the PostScript Printer Description (PPD) File section and select the appropriate PPD file for your model.
  6. Now select the Change button below the LPR Printer Selection text.
  7. Enter the IP address and service name details of the machine. When specifying the Queue, use the value "brn_xxxxxx_p1_at" (where xxxxxx are the last 6 digits of the Ethernet address).
  8. Click OK to go back to the previous screen.
  9. You are now ready to create the printer for use. To do that, click Create.
  10. Enter the name of the printer in the Save desktop printer as: option and click Save.
  11. To make this machine as a default printer, click the printer name once and then select Printing and Set Default Printer.
  12. Whenever you send a print job, the printer that you just created will be used.


For USB Users:

  1. Open the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder. Open the Utilities folder.
  2. Open the Desktop Printer Utility icon.
  3. Select Printer (USB), and then click OK.
  4. Click Change... in the PostScript™ Printer Description (PPD) file.Select your model name, and then click Select.
  5. Click Change... in the USB Printer Selection. Select your model name, and then click OK.
  6. Click Create....
  7. Enter your model name, and then click Save.
  8. Select Quit from the File menu.
  9. Click the icon with your model name on the Desktop.
  10. Select Set Default Printer from the Printing menu.
